Photographic Safaris at Phinda

A new tailor made Photographic Safari has been launched at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In addition to an expert ranger and tracker team, each safari will be accompanied by professional wildlife photographers, Roger and Pat de la Harpe. They will assist guests with everything from lighting and angles, to camera settings and photo editing, to help get that perfect safari photograph.

The de la Harpe’s have been involved in professional wildlife, travel and cultural photography for over 25 years. Their work has been featured in numerous publications around the world, most notably BBC Wildlife, Geo and National Geographic, and they have published 19 world-class coffee table books.

Together with &Beyond’s ranger and tracker team, they will take guests out into the heart of Phinda’s pristine wilderness to help them fulfil their personal wish list of photographic subjects. From the Big Five to the Little Five, they will track whatever creatures (or trees, landscapes and sunsets) that the guests wish to capture on film.

Phinda’s Photographic Safaris are being offered at ZAR 4 300 per day (1-2 guests) and ZAR 3 500 per day (3-5 guests). These rates exclude accommodation and are subject to the availability of &Beyond’s photography experts.

Phinda encompasses 23 000 hectares (56 800 acres) of Big Five wilderness and is home to six lodges, each with its own individual charm and character: Forest Lodge (16 suites); Mountain Lodge (25 suites); Rock Lodge (6 suites); Vlei Lodge (6 suites); Zuka Lodge (4 cottages; sole-use); and The Homestead (4 suites; sole-use).
