DINFest Adventure, Sport and Lifestyle Festival
Adventure, sport and lifestyle enthusiasts are in for a real treat at the DINFest, to be held on Saturday, 31 March 2012 at Base3 in Midrand. Organised by DO IT NOW magazine, in association with Monster Energy Drink, this event is going to be a sensory overload!
It's a visual feast for wakeboarding fans as the Monster Rail Rodeo sets the scene for some scintillating all-day entertainment and water mayhem. This wakeboarding event combines the usual flat water stunts with some seriously tricky floating water obstacles, such as sliders, kickers and rails are floating obstacles, which the riders must negotiate. Sliders are water based obstacles, rails are exactly as the name prescribes like stairwell balustrades and kickers are ramps, which launch riders 3-6 metres into the air … you've got to see it to believe it!
The Big Air Kayak Freestyle show promises to impress and entertain as kayakers fearlessly carry out some hectic tricks as they launch themselves and their kayaks off the Big Air ramp before landing on the water.
Smell the rubber burning at the Trials Bike show as Brian Capper, ten-time South African Supermoto National Champion, demonstrates why he is a true pioneer of the sport and one of the most diversely talented two-wheel experts in the world.
FMX followers will have the opportunity to watch top South African riders take part in the SA FMX Nationals. See the likes of Alastair Sayer and Nic de Wit battle it out in a bid to lay claim to this prestigious and coveted title. It's going to be one heck of a ride!
The pace is picked up with the Kinetic Adventure 25km race, which consists of trail running, off-road cycling, paddling and an obstacle course, and the DINFest Dash, a 5-7km trail sprint through the farmlands of Base 3. Both events are no walk in the park and are sure to test the physical and mental capacity and teamwork of participants.
For the golfers, Michael Scholz, the entertaining and very talented golf free-style expert, will be performing some madly impressive tricks, as well as some truly hilarious impersonations of some of the world’s top professional golfers. Michael is a member of the Sunshine Tour and has competed extensively on the European and Asian Tours and the European Challenge Tours.
Not to be missed are the skateboarding and BMX demonstrations on the Vert Jam, which will see some mind-blowing tricks being performed. These sports are exciting, incredibly skilful and attract the youth in droves, so come and watch the pros and see how it should be done.
In the speed climbing event speed is everything and the teams competing will be sure to even give Spiderman a run for his money.
